Doug Stringer is founder and director of Turning Point Ministries International, an evangelistic and discipleship ministry with outreaches to the Church and the secular world. The ministry began in 1981 when Doug, a physical fitness instructor and owner of an exercise business, totally yielded and surrendered his life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. He began offering a refuge in his studio for the homeless and hurting by providing for their physical needs, as drug dealers, addicts, male and female prostitutes, runaways, hitchhikers, and many others were ultimately led to the Real Refuge, Jesus Christ.
Turning Point Ministries was officially incorporated in 1984 and changed its name in 1990 to Turning Point Ministries International because of its outreach into other countries. Crusades, discipleship training, creative evangelism, and mercy missions are just a few of the ways the ministry has reached into over 27 nations. Somebody Cares America/ International began in Houston as the compassion/outreach arm of TPMI and now has a network 23 official chapters in the nation and abroad, linking thousands of individuals, churches, ministries, and businesses who are united for one purpose: to save lives.
Doug is author of It's Time to Cross the Jordan, The Fatherless Generation, Somebody Cares, Born to Die, and Who’s Your Daddy Now? He is a frequent guest on TV and radio networks, including the Christian Broadcasting Network. He is a sought-after speaker nationally and internationally, with a growing number of requests for his teaching on Transformational Leaders/Persevering Leadership and Transformation Through Compassion.
